Behind the Business: Windsors Nursery
KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —There’s no need to wait to spruce up your garden, this winter, with a business opening its doors next week.
“We like to be authentically us,” Jamee Muchow, President of Windsors Nursery said.
Jamee said her parents started Windsors Nursery after years of landscaping, decades later they’re still going strong.
“My dad decided that at that point he wanted to start a retail garden center. So we had done, I think it’s like 40, whatever the math is, 42 years we did landscaping. This will be our 27th year for retail and nursery,” Muchow recalled.
Jamee said she’s always loved plants...but that love has grown over the years of cultivating Windsors, “I just grew to love. I think nature and creating and what plants can bring someone in the feeling of them inside, you can go outside and have that experience in your garden.”
After being closed for the winter, Windsors is set to re-open its doors for the season this coming Monday, bringing in new stock for shoppers, “We’re going to be focused on the houseplants that we’ve got a fresh stock of houseplants in, we’ve got air plants, and we’ve got indoor succulents. There’s not much that you can put outside right now. Come the end of February, 1st of March, we’ll start getting in our early spring annual flowers.”
Muchow and her team are revamping the nursery, adding new activities and spaces to enjoy, “There’ll be different little intimate areas you can run out for a wide variety of things, and then we’ll have a gigantic area as one, once we come up with the name of that, that we’ll be able to have outdoor concert series and a wide variety of things with that.”
They’ll also have workshops and different events for the community to come and enjoy.
The crew at Windsors wants each visit not just to be a transaction but an experience, “I like to offer the experience and how we make you feel as our customer to come to us. We like to help guide you to make you successful in gardening. That’s kind of our motto here.”
For Machow...this isn’t just a business, it’s a legacy..one she wants to carry on for her family, especially her father, “It is a big, big deal for me to be able to grow my family’s business into what we want it to be for the future.”
