HAGERMAN, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —If you’re looking for some comfort food to help you stay warm during an Idaho winter, you may want to head to Hagerman.

“It’s all about quality,” Mark Stasz, owner of Fire Pie Pizza and Pasta said.

Mark and Jen Stasz took over Fire Pie Pizza and Pasta in Hagerman about nine years ago, and say it happened on a whim.

The business didn’t start out at the restaurant you see now, but on the road.

“The pizza business, which at the time was a traveling pizza business, we did music events, weddings,” Stasz explained.

Then in 2022, they opened their brick-and-mortar location, where they sell a variety of “comfort foods.”

“Desserts, different soups every weekend, the pasta menu, we have 16 different pizzas that we do, three desert pizzas,” Stasz said.

It’s not just the typical pizzas you’d expect, you’ll also find things like “Thai pizza” and “Greek pizza.”

No matter the flavor, everything they make is from scratch.

“Yes, we can go by the Alfredo sauce out of a can from a distributor, it’s not going to hold water to a homemade Alfredo sauce,” Stasz stated.

Something that the staszs say separates them from other pizza places is this Italian brick oven, which gives their pizzas a special taste, “Unlike a lot of pizzas, you do get a little bit of char on the bottom of that dough, but that is part of the flavor of the pizza.”

And it also cooks your pizza a lot faster...“A minute and 1/2 for pizza in an oven at running to 800°, you know."

The Stasz say their passion is fueled by the appreciation of the community, “They say this is the some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. They come back all the time for the to have the same dish, the Alfredo sauce because they love it so much. So these little things somehow make the rest of it all worthwhile.”
