Behind the Business: DownPour Digs

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With a large agricultural community, people seek specific clothes and shoes.
This business is right up their alley.
Dusty Cook, owner of DownPour Digs, said that her store is for everyone, but many customers are from the agricultural field.
“It is basically agricultural all the way,” Cook said. “If you’re doing irrigation or you are working in the dairies at all, or you’re just needing something, if you’re doing pressure washing.”
Living in Jerome, Cook has seen the need for a store that holds clothes and accessories for workers in these fields.
“I’m from Jerome, so I really felt the need to be able to get the things that we are needing here in this area.”
Cook’s work in the field helped her develop the idea for this store and identify its needs.
“And I’ve also done a lot of moving parts and moving water, so I definitely get what you need when it’s come to the comfort.”
DownPour-Digs offers a variety of outwear and shoes.
“Different colors, some with the women’s and some with the men’s and also the ones with the pockets. We have got the dual milking sleeves as well as the regular ones, offering us as much as we can when it comes to that as well, as well as gloves. We also are, if you’re into the irrigation things, we have got those as well.”
Cook said much of the outwear used is only sold online, so people cannot try it on, and sometimes it takes weeks to get shipped, which can cause issues.
“You’re ordering it offline and then you’re needing it today and then you’re having to send it back because it wasn’t the right size.”
DownPour-Digs allows you to try everything on and get it right then and there.
Cook said her favorite part of her job is the satisfaction she can give customers once they find what they’re looking for.
“If they are walking around in it and they think their feet are going to be so much more comfortable, it really makes my day.”
