TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Memorial Day is not only the official start of summer but also the start of the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer.”

The “100 Deadliest Days” refers to the period between Memorial Day in May and Labor Day in September.

This period is statistically the highest time for fatal crashes.

Statistics show that teen divers have more than a double a chance to be in a fatal accident.

More than 42% of accidents involving teenagers happen in that 100 days.

Randy Morris, from the Magic Valley Paramedics gives tips on how to try and avoid car crashes, “The important thing for anybody, teenagers, adults whomever is to scan ahead, look around to make sure when you are driving that you are focused on that event. The futhur ahead you scan the more that you look around the better your reaction time, even at higher speeds so that you can avoid somebody that pulls out or somebody that stops suddenly. Just that scanning ahead and looking in your side view mirrors to know whats around you.”

Distracted driving is one of the most common reasons people get in crashes.

Remember to keep your eyes on the road and avoid all distractions.
