TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — St. Luke’s is committed to supporting, funding and implementing projects that improve the health of the community through their community health improvement fund grant, and that’s the focus of this week’s Fit and Well Idaho report.

Starting February 2nd through February 29th, 2024, St. Luke’s Magic Valley will be accepting online applications for its 2023-2024 second round Community Health Improvement Fund grants. Applicants may apply for funds up to $20,000.

Applications should address a top-ranking community health need identified by the St Luke’s Magic Valley 2023 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), or a social determinant.

A social determinant for health is the environmental conditions in which people live, learn, work and play that can affect a wide range of health and quality-of-life risks and outcomes. Examples include access to nutritious food, accessible modes of transportation and availability of social support services.

Local businesses and non-profits can apply, as well as schools. Previous school districts that have been awarded grants included Twin Falls School District, Kimberley, Jerome and others.

“St. Lukes mission is to improve the health of people in the community we serve, and we feel like we can’t do that alone it really must be done in partnership because there’s a lot of elements to addressing health outcomes, so this is a really great resource. It’s available to our community for those who are really working in those spaces and helping us align with that mission,” said St. Lukes Community Health & Engagement Director, Kyli Gough.

Applicants should demonstrate collaborative and equity-driven approaches to addressing community health issues. Applicants must also include a mechanism with which to measure health improvements in the populations they serve.

For more information or to apply, go to www.stlukesonline.org/CHIF. The deadline to apply is February 29, 2024. Winners for the Community Health Improvement Fund grants will be notified on or after May 1, 2024.
